Product Description

This Creating Hogsmeade is our last in the edition, and an artist's proof (AP4 of 50) signed by Stuart.

Creating Hogsmeade showcases the visual development process in film making. The top frame is Stuart Craig's concept sketch, the middle frame the image rendered digitally in color, and the bottom a frame from the finished film.

Over a decade ago, world-renowned writer, J.K. Rowling created the world of Harry Potter, capturing the imaginations of millions of children and adults. Since then, followers of ‘the boy who lived’ have seen him grow though up through a seven-book series that takes place in a magical world of castles, creatures, witches and wizards.

To bring this deeply imaginative story to the movie screen, Warner Bros. and the Harry Potter series producer, David Heyman enlisted an outstanding team of filmmakers including award-winning production designer, Stuart Craig. Craig feels that the filmmaking process is about giving the audience images (sometimes even exaggerating them for effect) and eliminating anything that gets in the way of people understanding and following the story. The result of his meticulous study of the world Rowling created, is a series of production designs rendered under his direction by top illustrators such as Andrew Williamson. The result is a visual creation of Harry’s world that has thrilled filmgoers worldwide.

The Art of the Harry Potter Film Series now allows collectors to own these brilliant film-production images as limited edition fine art prints. Each print in the series is hand-numbered and signed by Stuart Craig.

About Stuart Craig:

Norman Stuart Craig OBE (born April 14, 1942) is a noted British production designer. He has also designed the sets, together with his frequent collaborator set decorator Stephanie McMillan, on all of the Harry Potter film series films to date. At Potter author J. K. Rowling's request, he is working with Universal Creative team to design the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park. Rowling said in a December 2007 interview on the Potter podcast PotterCast, "The key thing for me was that, if there was to be a theme park, that Stuart Craig … would be involved. … More than involved, that he would pretty much design it. Because I love the look of the films; they really mirror what’s been in my imagination for all these years". He has been nominated for an Academy Award nine times, and has won three times: in 1982 for Gandhi, in 1988 for Dangerous Liaisons, and in 1996 for The English Patient. He has been nominated for a BAFTA award twelve times, including for first six Potter films, and has won twice: in 1980 for The Elephant Man and in 2005 for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Stuart Craig has been nominated for a BAFTA Award for consecutive six films in a row, viz. for consecutive first six Harry Potter films. For his work on The English Patient, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix,Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Craig was nominated for an Art Directors Guild award. The Guild has also honored Craig with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the awards ceremony on 16 February 2008.
