Spider-Man Original and Limited Edition Art

Spider-Man is a fictional character, a comic book superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, he first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962).

An orphan, Peter Parker was raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. In an unusual accident, he was bitten by a spider that was supercharged with unusual energy. This led to a transfer of spider-like abilities and qualities which prompted Peter to become a superhero. Forever led by his uncle's last words to him: "With great power comes great responsibility", Peter, as Spiderman, shoulders the burden of patrolling New York and fighting crime whereever it appears. This proves more difficult than he imagines as his life and responsibility as a costumed crimefighter conflicts with his life as a student and, later, mild-mannered adult.

Spider-Man's powers include super strength and agility, the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs using devices of his own invention which he called "web-shooters", and the ability to react to danger quickly with his "spider-sense", enabling him to combat his foes.
