Iron Man Original and Limited Edition Art

Anthony "Tony" Stark was born with extreme intelligence. After the death of his parents when he was 21, Stark inherited Stark Industries and quickly turned it into a multi-billion dollar industry complex whose chief contracts were for advanced weaponry and munitions for the US Government. While supervising a weapon's field test in Afghanistan, Stark was taken captive by revolutionaries after being hit in the chest with shrapnal. Told that the shrapnal would eventually penetrate his heart and kill him, Stark built an armored suit that would help keep him alive as well as help him escape from the revolutionaries. When he returned to the United States, he redesigned and rebuilt the chestplate of the suit so that he could wear it at all times, because he was dependent on it to stay alive. Stark decided to put the rest of the suit to good use and became Iron Man.   Stark helped to organize the superhero team, The Avengers, early in his career as a superhero and regularly led the team.   Originally, Tony Stark had no powers of his own, and he depended on his armored suit for all of his super abilities, until he injected himself the Extremis virus, gaining new abilities and intellect as well as being able to control his armor mentally. In it, he can fly and can shoot blasts of repulsor energy from his hands and chest. He can also connect to various communications systems such as satellites, cell phones, and computers throughout the world. The armor has boosted his reaction time and enhanced his ability to heal.
